Being made of polyester (not cotton) they don't need any gauze to prevent fluffing on the filter, and they don't require oil for filtration so they're much easier to clean. You simply rinse the filter in water and they don't require re-oiling afterwards. This is exceptionally beneficial to not contaminating your MAF Meter Elements !

We have found many other performance filters to be great with flow but due to the requirement to oil, they often contaminate the MAF Meter Elements which leads to Skewed MAF Readings and lean out the Air/Fuel ratio. Lean Air fuel Ratios lead to detonation, misfiring and lost performance. Not only this but lean A/F Ratios a sure way to damaging pistons an head gaskets.

So if you have an Air Filter which requires Oiling for filtration and your engine is not performing quite right, check your MAF Meter for Oil contamination. We have encountered this case scenario many times and found once the MAF Meter Elements are clean with CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner or MAF Meter Cleaner, performance and fuel ratio's are returned.
